The Road to Union's Got Talent

We began UGT as a fundraiser for my son's scholarship fund. Doug was 23, a graduate of UHS and Wagner College. He majored in Theater and Arts Administration. He interned and got his dream job at MTV/Viacom in NYC. He was an associate producer for News And Documentary. In December, 2004, he was  involved in a fatal accident on the GSP when his car was hit by a Raymour and Flanigan truck that was attempting to make an illegal U-turn.

After the accident we began the Douglas Michael Krueger Scholarship Fund Trust (non-profit 501(c)3) as a memorial to Doug and his passion for the cultural arts. We award over $4000 in scholarship money to UHS graduating seniors who have excelled in the Arts. We also award a $1000 Rising Star Scholarship yearly at the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards in Doug's name.

The Union High School Performing Arts Company of which Doug was an active member and the DMK Scholarship Fund came together to produce Union's Got Talent as a mutual fundraiser for both non-profit organizations.

This is a fundraising event that supports the Union High School Performing Arts Company and the Douglas Michael Krueger Scholarship Fund, both of which directly benefit the students of Union Township.

Union’s Got Talent has been a major community success. Our audiences have grown steadily through the years reaching our highest attendance of 800 people in 2017. “UGT” has been proud to showcase local talent while using Union Township and its businesses as a backdrop.  In our promotional videos, we feature segments of our contestants at different locations in town and use those segments throughout the live show.

The DMK Scholarship provides over $4000 in cultural arts scholarships each year to graduating Union High School students, and the Union High School Performing Arts Company is renowned for its award-winning stage productions, Nationally ranked Marching Band, Concert Bands and Color Guard. These activities provide Union students experience beyond the normal expectations of most high school music programs and help unite the community by having high quality family entertainment available right in town.
